Brittany Ferries prides itself on its home routes, local designs
influencing the style of the ships creating a truly French
atmosphere onboard offering services not uncomon on cruise ships.
The Pont-Aven will be no exception.
The Pont-Aven has been designed along the lines of the highly
popular and successful Bretagne, which was the first ferry to be
purpose built for the UK/Spanish route. The ships overall theme is
from the region of Brittany but also from the four countries she
will connect including England and Ireland. The Pont-Aven will bring
together the old and new, sharing cultures and traditions in a
'Sprit of Celebration'.
The focal point of the ship will be her atrium spanning 5 decks,
with panoramic lifts and an immense piece of art between them. The
food court will reflect the architect Gaudie and his work of
reflecting the Galic and Catalonian cultures in his own, subtle and
unique style.
The main restaurant, 'le Flora' will have a British feel in a design
influenced by the Scottish architect Mackintosh creating a very
refined space linking the subtle and sensual presence of plants and
flowers - a garden in bloom. The layout will be very similar to that
found on the Bretagne.
The Bar and mezzanine will have a blue decor reflecting the land and
and the sea, with a feeling of wide open space being achieved by the
central stairwell, glass ceiling and leading out to the leisure
centre. The pool itself will be outlined with stone and granite
whilst offering panoramic views of the sea and open air access
through a retractable glass megadrome.
