The Pont-Aven was officially handed over to Brittany Ferries on 27th February, 3 days ahead of schedule. The German national flag was lowered and the 'Tricolor' hoisted, the vessel officially being registered in Morlaix with a final gross tonnage of  41,700 tons.

Pont-Aven set sail from Eemshaven at 1100 on the 28th February bound for Roscoff. Whilst en route she met up with the Mont St Michel and Bretagne (en route to refit in Dunkerque) off the Normandy coast for publicity photographs to be taken in what was a unique moment for the three ships.

On the morning of the 1st March the Pont-Aven sailed into Roscoff for the first time, a date Brittany Ferris dubbed as their own 'D-Day'. She became the largest vessel to berth at the Breton port. Brittany Ferries employees and relatives were invited to tour the vessel before she departed to Brest for final checks and preparations to be made prior to her entry into service which is scheduled to be on the 24th March with the 1600 Plymouth - Santander departure.
