As well as introducing a new ship into their fleet Brittany Ferries  opened a new route between Portsmouth and Cherbourg on 24th March 2004.
The new route is operated by the award winning five star mv Val de Loire and mv Bretagne, bringing new standards of comfort and luxury to the Norman port and the route.

Sailings operate daily between Monday to Thursday.
Crossing time is approximately 4 hours 45 mins.

This new route increases the Brittany Ferries network to seven year round routes, linking England, France, Spain and Ireland confirming their position as the number one western channel ferry operator.

There will be up to 4 return sailings a day from Cherbourg sailing to both Poole and Portsmouth - click for timetables.
